New Spider-Man movie spins its way to box office record, netting $168 million on opening day

The latest Spidey movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, swung into the record books on Friday, earning a whopping $168 million from 4,487 theaters across North America, becoming the biggest opening day ever for a domestic release.

The latest Spider-Man installment shattered the previous record held by 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which earned $157 million on its opening day in theaters.
