A new Sainsbury's store has opened on Avon Street near Bristol Temple Meads this morning (Friday, March 4), within the Box Makers Yard development.
The new Local store is situated beneath the new apartment block in St Philips, and is set to provide a convenient place for local residents to pick up their shopping. Opening hours are 7am - 11pm, seven days a week.
It will sell all the usual staples of your average shop, including fresh fruit and veg, and also has a Costa coffee machine and fresh bakery, where customers will be able to pick up bread and pastries to go.

The 2,714 square foot shop will have a range of payment options on hand - from Mobile Pay and SmartShop, to Sainsbury's scan, pay and go technology, meaning customers can avoid waiting at the till and checkout. There will also be an Argos Click and Collect point in store within the first two months of opening.
Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury's property director, said: "The store looks brilliant as part of the new modern development and we're delighted to offer residents a convenient, great value place to pick up their essentials."
The Avon Street team is made up of a total of 21 staff members - 12 of whom are newcomers to the company. Sainsbury's says that all colleagues will "play an active role in the local area and the store will connect with local charity Addiction Recovery to ensure that any surplus food from the store is redistributed to those in the community who need it most".
Richard Troake, store manager at Sainsbury's Bristol Avon Street Local store, said: "My team and I have been really looking forward to today's opening and we couldn't be more pleased with our new store. We hope customers are as excited as we are about this great new addition to the local community and we can't wait to become a valued part of it."
You can find the new store on Avon Street, Box Makers Yard, New Kingsley Road, Bristol, BS2 0GG. It is about a five-minute walk from the back of Temple Meads station, past Glass Wharf and the Valentine Bridge.
