New poster for The Boys season 5 finale is an homage to one of the most important scenes in the comics, and fans think this means Butcher will finally kill Homelander

Homelander in the Oval Office in The Boys season 5.

A new poster for the final episode of The Boys has arrived... and it's got fans (me) thinking a bit more positively about what's to come in the series finale.

The poster sees Butcher walking up to the White House, while Homelander and dozens of Supes are flying overhead. This is a recreation of a panel from The Boys issue #65 titled, 'Over The Hill With The Swords Of A Thousand Men.' In the panel, Butcher is walking up to the White House, with Supes (sans Homelander) flying overhead, and saying, "He ain't gonna find no fuckin' superhero waitin. He gonna be up against some other shit altogether." It's in this very issue that Homelander and Butcher face off for the last time... but it's not Butcher who puts an end to Homelander's reign of terror. You can check out the side-by-side comparison below.

While we've done our own speculation as to who we think will kill Homelander, it would make sense, in the context of the show, for Butcher to be the one to do it. However, in the comics, it's Black Noir who puts an end to Homelander in an epic plot twist that reveals that the mute Supe is far more powerful than we thought. You might remember that we're on our second iteration of Black Noir in the show, and that he's not the same one that Homelander already killed in an earlier season. The new Black Noir is a Vought-hired actor... though he could very well have a plot twist of his own.

The Boys season 5 finale drops next week on Prime Video. Stay up to date with our The Boys season 5 release schedule, or look ahead to the best new TV shows still to come in 2026.
