New Post Office opens its doors in Ayrshire Village for first time

Coylton Post Office has opened at a new location, Ayrshire Live can reveal.

The announcement means full-time Post Office services have finally returned to the Ayrshire village - after an absence of more than two years.

The new Post Office is based at The Claude Hamilton Hall, 25 Hillhead, Coylton, Ayrshire, KA6 6JT, which replaces the previous temporary Mobile Service which had been in operation.

The previous branch at 58A Main Street, Joppa, closed in June 2020 due to the resignation of the Postmaster.

Scott Hamilton, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted to have restored a full-time Post Office to Coylton as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.

“We thank the Postmaster for Dalrymple for providing the Mobile Post Office in Coylton in the interim.”

The opening hours of the new branch are Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm; Saturday: 9am to 1pm.

This offers 44 hours of Post Office service a week, making it far more convenient to visit.

Ayrshire Live told last month how people in Whitletts will have access to services on their doorstep again.

We revealed the news that Libbys Convenience Store, Premier Express, on 82-84 Main Road, will now take charge of all Post Office services.

The previous branch, run by Spar at 74 Main Road, closed in September 2021.

The opening hours of the new branch will be Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 12noon. This will offer 43 hours of Post Office service a week.
