A recent survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal among registered voters has revealed that the upcoming presidential race is currently within the margin of error. The poll indicates that former President Donald Trump is leading with 47% support, while Vice President Kamala Harris is close behind with 45% support.
Comparing the current poll to the previous one conducted in late August, it is evident that there have been some shifts in public opinion. Negative views of Harris seem to have increased, with 53% of respondents holding an unfavorable view of her, compared to 49% in August. On the other hand, Trump's favorability has slightly improved, with 48% of respondents viewing him favorably in the recent poll.
According to the survey results, a majority of voters (52%) approve of the job Trump did during his presidency. However, most voters (54%) disapprove of the way Harris is handling her role as vice president. The poll also highlights a split among voters regarding which candidate they believe cares more about people like them and who will stand up for the middle class.
When it comes to bringing needed change, Trump is perceived more favorably by 49% of respondents compared to Harris at 40%. Conversely, Harris has a significant lead over Trump in terms of having the right temperament to be president, with 46% of respondents favoring her in this aspect.
