Fresh plans have been put forward for a previously rejected new 'village' on a closed golf course. The former Bramcote Hills Golf Course on Thoresby Road, Bramcote, could be transformed into nearly 100 retirement homes to form Bramcote Hills Retirement Village, if plans are approved by Broxtowe Borough Council.
The golf course ceased trading in 2008 and has remained unviable since, with it currently being fenced off private land. The site's prospective developers have said that at present it is a potential source of anti-social behaviour, explaining the buildings next to the old car park have been vandalised.
Previous versions of the reserved matters application for the project were rejected by Broxtowe Borough Council's planning committee on grounds that its scale and prominence would adversely affect the amenity of local residents. This decision was upheld by the Planning Inspectorate after the developer appealed.

But fresh plans have been altered to try address the concerns of local councillors, with all proposed development parallel to the Deddington Lane footpath now reduced to being single storey properties. There has also been a reduction in the number of homes to 91.
There would be 35 two-bed bungalows, 20 one-bed assisted care units, six two-bed assisted care units, and 30 one-bed independent living flats, as well as specialist care facilities. A new access road leading from Deddington Lane would be created, with 3.67 hectares of the 6.97 hectares site to be used as open space.
In a planning document, Halsall Lloyd Partnership on behalf of Champions Gate Ltd, said: "The proposed development will provide a high-quality environment forming a Continuing Care Retirement Community, including Specialist Care accommodation for over 55’s.
"It will create a safe and attractive development with a wide range of specialist facilities and amenities, along with clearly defined public and private spaces." The planning application is pending consideration by Broxtowe Borough Council.
People in and around the area previously spoke about the 'really dangerous' problems associated with off-road bikers.
