New Pics Of UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooting Suspect Have Been Released As Investigation Continues

Authorities investigating the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson have released new images of a man they want to question over the attack in the hopes that the public can assist in its manhunt for the culprit.

Over the last week, Americans have been in a frenzy over the death of Brian Thompson, the CEO of the country’s biggest health insurance providers.

Thompson, 50, was shot outside of the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan ahead of UnitedHealthcare’s investor conference on Wednesday, December 4.

He was taken to hospital, but he eventually succumbed to the injuries of the attack.

Since then, the New York Police Department has been scrambling to find the suspect who is responsible for the CEO’s death. On December 6, two days after the attack, NYPD released images of a man who is wanted for questioning over the shooting.

Three days later, authorities released two more images of what they believe to be the same man from the first round of photos they shared.

“The full investigative efforts of the NYPD are continuing, and we are asking for the public’s help—if you have any information about this case, call the NYPD Crime Stoppers,” it wrote alongside two images of a caucasian man sporting a black hoodie and a medical mask.

What do we know about the UnitedHealthcare CEO shooter so far?

Per ABC News, the alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO shooter reportedly entered New York City on November 24.

The bus originally came from Atlanta. However, it’s not clear when the suspect boarded the bus, with some sources telling the publication that he was spotted aboard in Washington, D.C.

On the same day he arrived in NYC, it is believed that he checked in at the HI New York City Hostel. It’s reported the suspect used cash and presented a fake ID when checking into the hostel, and continued to use cash for other transactions.

Following the December 4 shooting, the suspect reportedly fled on an electric bike before ditching it and taking a taxi to a bus terminal.

The suspect was reportedly spotted at a bus terminal 45 minutes after the shooting.

On December 6, NYPD released the first photos of a man who is wanted for questioning over the incident.

As investigations into the shooting kicked off, two unnamed law enforcement officials revealed to The Associated Press that ammunition was found at the scene with the words “delay, deny, despose” written on the side of the shell casings with permanent marker.

On Friday, investigators recovered a backpack that allegedly belonged to the shooter. The bag only contained a Tommy Hilfiger jacket and Monopoly money and over the weekend, police divers combed through a pond in NYC’s Central Park. It’s not known if they’ve found any evidence regarding the shooting.

In their investigations, police were able to grab a fingerprint of an item the suspect bought at a Starbucks, but it’s not known if it’ll be any help as it was smudged.

The FBI has now joined in on the nationwide manhunt and have offered USD$50,000 (AUD$78,200) reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, with NYPD offering an additional USD$10,000 (AUD$15641.86).

At the time of writing, authorities have yet to find the gun used in the attack and no arrests have been made in regards to the CEO’s death.
