Several Bristol locations have been used to film a new series for the streaming service Paramount+, an adaptation of international bestseller and bestselling thriller The Killing Kind by renowned Irish crime author Jane Casey.
The Killing Kind follows the lives of London lawyer Ingrid Lewis after she successfully defended John Webster from being accused of stalking. He subsequently turns against Ingrid in the book, stalking her, damaging her relationship, and even wrecking her home.
Colin Morgan joins the cast as Webster, Ingrid’s former accused and potentially dangerous client, who shows up again just as things start to take a dramatic turn.
With filming starting last month (January 2023), Paramount+ was first announced as the streaming service associated with the new series back in December of last year.

Star of the series, Emma Appleton said: “I’m delighted to be working with such a talented team on such a thrilling show. When I first read THE KILLING KIND script I was so intrigued by Ingrid and the twists and turns we take as the story goes on.”
Colin Morgan explained: “Getting the opportunity to explore a more dark and complex role with John Webster has been enlightening and such fun. Working with the brilliant Emma Appleton has already been such a highlight, along with the rest of the incredible cast. The story had me hooked from page one and I am looking forward to seeing it play out on screen.”
On the casting, Executive Producers Paula Cuddy and Eve Gutierrez said: “We are delighted to have attracted such an outstanding cast on THE KILLING KIND and thrilled to commence production on this premium ‘Popcorn TV’ drama for Paramount+, with a fantastic production team – and with the brilliant director Zara Hayes at the helm.”
The Killing Kind is one of many UK dramas commissioned by Paramount+, a relatively new streaming platform. The Flatshare, an adaptation of the novel by Beth O’Leary, was also filmed in Bristol across various locations and at the Bottle Yard Studios in early 2022, assisted by the Bristol Film Office.
It's not the first time that Bristol has doubled up for London recently as last week, Clifton was transformed into London to film series 14 of Doctor Who. Stars Anita Dobson and Millie Gibson were spotted on set after Frederick Place and Park Place were both closed for filming.
