New owners of popular North Ayrshire eaterie hoping to restore venue 'to former glory'

A restaurant is reopening in Ayrshire – and the name will be familiar to residents.

The Lemon Tree will swing open its doors to customers tomorrow.

The Kilwinning venue is opening up under new ownership after being on the market for £175,000.

The Main Street eaterie will be open from 5pm with owners hoping to "restore it to its former glory".

A post from owners reads: "It’s official. We will be opening on August 25 at 5pm, we are so grateful for your patience and we can’t wait to see you all.

"Call (01294) 446 060 to make a booking between 9am and 5pm or message the Facebook page. Friday night is the lovely Sharon’s debut karaoke kicking off at 8pm. We expect it to be mayhem so get here early.

"And then do we have a treat for you on Saturday night; live music with amazing David Dennett making his Kilwinning debut. We will be serving food everyday from 10am to 9pm."

The owners added: "The buzz around the town has been amazing. We are so overwhelmed. We have very big shoes to fill. We can’t wait to meet everyone and restore it to its former glory!"

The advert selling the Lemon Tree on novaloca.com, which was taken down on June 8, read: "The Lemon Tree is an established town centre pub contained within a part two and part four-storey terraced property of traditional construction.

"The building contains a well presented but traditionally styled public bar with snug seating area at ground floor level together with a manager’s office, beer cellar and both male and female toilets.

"A central stairwell provides access to the upper floors with the first floor offering a function suite with its own bar, previously used as a restaurant, a larder and additional male and female toilets.

"The second floor consists of a kitchen, which closed in 2014 but remains fully fitted (equipment not warranted) together with a utility room and chefs room with toilet. The attic floor contains four private rooms used for storage but with potential for conversion to owner’s accommodation."
