A new study has found that a subvariabt of Omicron Covid is substantially more infectious than the original strain, and more likely to be able to beat vaccine immunity.
People with Stealth Covid - named because it is cannot be differentiated with a PCR test - are 33% more likely to infect someone else than people with original Omicron.
Researchers in Denmark found the BA.2 subvariant of the Omicron COVID-19 variant is more transmissible than BA.1 - original Omicron.
And the scientists say it is more likely to infect vaccinated people.
The study looked at 8,500 households in Denmark over the last two months.
Stealth Omicron BA.2 is already the dominant strain in Denmark.
The scientists said: "We conclude that Omicron BA.2 is inherently substantially more transmissible than BA.1 and that it also possesses immune-evasive properties that further reduce the protective effect of vaccination against infection."
