There’s a new place in Nottinghamshire definitely worth going to. For those of you that love an Indian takeaway, there’s one that has just opened its doors which has people already queuing up as community reporter, Keimae Blake reports…
Anyone who knows me knows I’ll gobble a Chinese takeaway like it’s no one’s business, have a few party rings with a cup of tea and of course, take a trip down to Wetherspoons every now and again. There is however, one cuisine which isn’t my go to.... surprise, surprise. Don’t get me wrong, I do like Indian food but it's not my first choice.
However, a new takeaway in West Bridgford on Gordon Road, Bombay Sweet Centre, and the food is spectacular. The best Indian takeaway I’ve ever had and I want to try more.

With succulent, big chunks of chicken that are a good heat but not hot enough to blow your head off, Nottinghamshire Live’s Life Writer, Lynette has given Bombay Sweet Centre’s food a 10/10.
Turning down onto Gordon Road in West Bridgford, I was happy to see so many people queuing up to support a family run business. I am, however, impatient.
Luckily, it wasn’t raining and after a while, I was nearly at the front of the queue. Looking at the menu whilst in line, I had enough time at least to know what I wanted.
One thing that did make me smile was that a local business, Lizzies Bundles, had dropped off a bouquet of flowers and wished the new business luck. When I got up to the counter I asked for: a lamb kebab with pilau rice and an onion bhaji.
Fair enough that’s what I asked for but I kid you not, everything looked and smelt amazing. Despite the day not even being over yet, the Bombay Sweet Centre had already sold out on certain products. With a dessert menu too, I was tempted to get a sweet treat but I stopped myself.
My whole order came up to £5.65. Surely that can’t be right, I thought but it was. Most of the classic curries at the new West Bridgford takeaway are less than £7.
It's already evident the Bombay Sweet Centre is going to be successful but my goodness, if the property was bigger and had indoor or outdoor seating I predict the place would always be packed.
I don’t want to hear any comments saying ‘the food looks dry’ - I decided against having sauce because in general no matter what I eat I can have it with or without sauce and this dish didn’t need it; the food was fantastic.
My lamb kebab was juicy and moist, I was hitting myself that I didn’t get two. My onion bhaji was sweet, crunchy and spicy and for a small, you got a lot of pilau rice.
I see that you lovely readers have picked up, quickly, that I like most things and rate a lot a 10/10 and so was this! This new takeaway does curries, somas, a Bombay grill, an Indian style breakfasts, desserts and more so if that sounds like a bit of you, get yourself down there!
