A new mural has appeared in Nottingham near the River Trent. A large nature scene has been painted near the Nottingham side of Lady Bay Bridge by the West Bridgford based company, Mock Rock.
The mural has replaced a beige side of a building, and will soon be completed with ultra realistic rock faces ahead of the Arches Adventure Base opening in May, which will offer bouldering, kayaking and paddle boarding, Director of the company, Ben Hunter, said: We had this beige building behind and we got permission from the owner to paint the wall.
"With the adventure centre underneath, it will just lift the whole area." Ben continued: "The next stage is adding ultra realistic rock faces which are going in, and that works start straight after this, so we had to paint the wall before those could go in. When you look over, because the ground will be a rubble mulch to look like tree bark, it will look like tree bark, with realistic rock and a forest background.
"It's highly experimental but the support has been amazing, and we have just gone for it." The adventure centre has recently bought the former Nottingham Forest ticket office which they will be converting to use as a cafe.
Ben added: "We are really going to make this a place to help young people get into climbing and adventure sports. As it's in an urban location it's very unusual, so for people that have never tried bouldering or thought about outdoor adventure sports this will be perfect for them."
