New memorial commemorating 16 US troops killed during WWII could be on way to RAF Langar

A new memorial remembering 16 troops from the US who were killed after departing RAF Langar during the Second World War could be on its way to the airbase.

The US air force used RAF Langar, between the villages of Langar and Harby on the Nottinghamshire / Leicestershire border, between November 1943 and October 1944.

Operation Market Garden was the only US combat mission the airbase was used for, which took place between September 17 and September 25 1944.
