Manchester Half Marathon organisers have revealed the race's new route for 2022, which will see runners take on the city centre for the first time ever. The flat-route event will welcome some 15,000 athletes along its 13.1 mile course this autumn.
As with previous years, the 2022 course will still start and finish near Old Trafford. The route begins by heading up towards Deansgate, then turning and passing by Castlefield and along to Bridgewater Way.
The run continues onto Chester Road for three miles, before leading onto Cross Street. Runners will then turn a corner as they approach Sale, bringing along Broad Road and round, before continuing straight on for two miles.
The route then turns right onto Edge Lane, passing Turn Moss Playing Fields, before heading back towards Old Trafford and finishing up on Talbot Road. The Half Marathon, which was launched in 2016, takes place on Sunday, October 9.
Whether you're an amateur runner or a seasoned pro, wanting to race individually or in a group, you can sign up for the half marathon now. Individual entry starts at £39, or £36 for UKA affiliated athletes.
The best sellers package, including an official training top and personalised medal insert, is £59 and a duo event ticket - which offers entry into both the Manchester Half 2022 and the Manchester Marathon 2023 - costs £89.
You can also get discounted entry by running for one of the events official charity partners. These include The Army's National Charity, Alzheimer's Society, The Christie and Cancer Research UK.
Organisers are also keen to hear from those interesting in volunteering on the big day, whether you're an individual or from a club or organisation. For more details check out the Half Marathon website.
