New Look shutting another store for good TOMORROW after string of closures

New Look will be closing one of its stores tomorrow in yet another blow to the British high street.

The fashion retailer's store at Brookfield Shopping Park in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire will be shutting its doors for the final time on Wednesday, April 19.

New Look confirmed the news in an Instagram post published last week.

The post read: "Sorry to inform you all but our store in Cheshunt will be closing shortly.

"Our last day will be on Wednesday, April 19. Your local stores will be in Enfield or Harlow. Sorry for any inconvenience caused."

After Wednesday, the nearest stores in the area for New Look shoppers will be in Waltham Cross, which is 2.3 miles away, Enfield which is 5.1 miles, and Harlow which is 6.7 miles.

It comes after a string of closures earlier this year, which saw sites in Birmingham, Coventry, Trowbridge, Kirkcaldy, Walthamstow and Northampton close.

However, New Look defended the closures and told The Mirror that it was part of the "normal course of business".

New Look spokesperson told The Mirror: “New Look occasionally closes sites, but also opens new stores when the right opportunities arise.

"While a small number of stores have closed in recent months, our most recent new openings were in November 2022 and we have plans for further openings in the first half of this year.”

New Look also told Mirror Money that it opened two new stores towards the end of last year and was planning to open a further four this year.

Most recently on April 13, the retailer opened a new site in Sunderland.

The new site was a combination of two which previously housed HMV and a former Disney store.

All the staff from the retailer's previous store on Crowtree Road, which has now closed, transferred to the new store

New Look has been a high street retailer since the 1960s, selling womenswear, menswear and children’s clothing.

Over the last few years it has struggled to compete with the popularity and pricing of online outlets.

Back in 2018, New Look said it may have to close down more than 100 branches nationwide.
