A new intern has started at the Galloway Hydro Scheme.
Andrew Murdoch has secured the six month role with owners Drax Group – the 14th such position supported by the Galloway Glens scheme in a bid to connect employers to their future workforce and encourage young people to consider their working future here in Galloway.
Andrew, who will be working as a technical support assistant, said: “I am really excited to have been given such a great opportunity to work with a company that is working towards a greener future especially in the Galloway area where I have lived my whole life.
“The Galloway Hydro Scheme has been a positive force in the renewable energy industry historically and I hope to be able to help continue and expand that legacy going forward.”
Drax’s O&M manager for the Galloway Hydros, Martin McGhie, added: “We are all welcoming Andrew onto the team and look forward to working together in coming months. We are delighted to be an example of the wide range of careers you can have right here in Galloway.”
And Galloway Glens’ education and community engagement officer, Jan Hogarth, added: “We were all delighted that a local lad secured this unique internship opportunity with Drax, working on the Galloway Hydro Scheme. Andrew is really interested in renewable energy, so this is just the perfect internship for him.
