Salt has offered a hint of what to expect from its new venue opening near Roundhay Park.
Having enjoyed success in the city centre and in Sheffield, the team from Salt will soon launch a new bar in Oakwood. Salt will be moving into the Stew and Oyster premises in Roundhay Road.
Salt Founder Jamie Lawson said: “Given the resurgence we’ve seen in Oakwood as the place to go in North Leeds, taking Salt there was a no-brainer. The area has fast become a mini-hub for independent bars, cafes, and restaurants that we love and admire, and I know Salt can bring something completely fresh to the party.

“As well as being home to some of Yorkshire’s best-selling craft ales, we’ve really nailed our draught cocktails offering and converted many naysayers along the way. We’re also proud to serve up some of the city’s best bar food from Big Buns, who never fail to impress when it comes to mouth-watering burgers, wings and loaded fries.
“’We can’t wait to welcome the people of Oakwood into our newest venue, just in time for the World Cup and the busy festive season. We’ll see you at the bar.”’
Big Buns will be serving up all kinds of comfort food as they takeover the Salt Oakwood kitchen. The independent burger brand comes from the same people that brought The Falafel Guys to Leeds.
Big Buns co-owners Ahmed and Abdalla Gouda said: “We felt that we had to bring our amazing burgers to local areas of Leeds. Oakwood was the obvious choice for us because of its very family-orientated feel and a great collection of independent family-run businesses. The only thing missing is smash burgers, chicken wings and loaded fries to compliment the current local offering.
The opportunity to work with SALT again felt like the perfect partnership given they reflect our strong family values, customer focus and genuine passion for great quality food and drink.”
We'll bring you more on Salt and its opening date when we have further details.
