New Indian restaurant opens in Leeds city centre and it's already getting rave reviews

A brand new Indian restaurant has opened in Leeds city centre and it is already getting rave reviews.

Aarti is a south Indian and Punjabi eatery. It became popular after opening in Street Lane, Roundhay, over nine years ago.

It has since become one of the best rated Indian restaurants in the city. The business has now moved and taken over the premises of former popular Thai restaurant, My Thai, in Swinegate.

The new restaurant, run by Shyamal Kumar, is said to served "authentic street food" and has an impressive bar where staff make a range of classic and signature cocktails. The menu includes poppadom baskets with chutney, samosas, vegetable spring rolls, bhajis, pani puri, dahi vada, curries, kebabs, lamb chops, mixed grills, and a range of desserts.

One TripAdvisor visitor said: "New small Indian restaurant with street food focus. Modern décor. Had a lovely meal with friend shared a veg thali and tikka paneer with a friend - absolutely delicious. Great value, service excellent too - will be back."

A reviewer from Leeds Food Tours added: "Last week we had a delicious lunch at Aarti, who offer South Indian and Punjabi street food. They have a really good selection of mostly vegetarian street food dishes on the menu, alongside a couple of meat dishes and some curries. We had Samosa Chaat (one of my all time favourite Indian dishes), chilli paneer, lamb chops and Ragda Pattice."

"It was a perfect light lunch. The highlights were the chilli paneer which had a lovely light batter on it and a kick of spice, and the ragda pattice because I’d never had this before and it was a delightful surprise! The samosa chaat was good too."

Aarti is open from 12pm to 10pm from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays the restaurant is open from 12pm until 9pm.
