Star Wars has unveiled the covers for two upcoming High Republic novels, shedding light on the greatest threat faced by the Jedi during this era set centuries before the Skywalker saga. The ongoing narrative in The High Republic revolves around the aftermath of Starlight Beacon's destruction, with the Jedi grappling with the formidable Nihil marauders. However, the Nihil's control over the Nameless creatures has instilled genuine fear among the Jedi Order.
The covers for Tears of the Nameless by George Mann and Beware the Nameless by Zoraida Córdova have been revealed. The artwork for Tears of the Nameless features Jedi Knight Reath Silas and Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo confronting one of the imposing Nameless creatures. On the other hand, the cover for Beware the Nameless depicts a Nameless creature sneaking up on Zenny Greylark and Jedi Youngling Kildo, accompanied by Churo the Hutt.
Zoraida Córdova's Beware the Nameless is scheduled for release on August 27th, 2024, while George Mann's Tears of the Nameless will hit bookshelves on September 24th.
Referred to as the Shrii Ka Rai or 'Eater of the Force,' the Nameless possess the ability to drain and consume the energy of Force-sensitive individuals, leaving them as lifeless stone husks. Additionally, the Nameless induce hallucinogenic effects, plunging Jedi into states of intense fear before draining their life force. Enhanced with cybernetics by Baron Boolan under the Nihil's command, the Nameless pose an even greater threat to the Jedi.
The survival of a single Jedi Knight and Padawan in Tears of the Nameless, let alone a Jedi Youngling and their companions in Beware the Nameless, seems precarious against these Force predators. Both novels promise to be thrilling reads, offering deeper insights into the enigmatic Nameless creatures within the High Republic universe. Perhaps these stories will unveil a strategy for the Jedi to gain the upper hand as the High Republic Era unfolds.
