New Fortnite update 3.93: MK Alpha replaces one of the worst Assault Rifles in the game

A new Fortnite update was pushed out for the console versions of the game yesterday, but no official patch notes were released alongside it, despite the appearance of a new weapon in-game.

It's been less than a week since the launch of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3, and while we've all been busy trying to make our way through the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 Battle Pass, Epic Games has released another update to the game already (at least on consoles). However, the game is still listed as Fortnite version 25.00 on the main menu, and with updates this small Epic Games doesn't typically release full patch notes for the smaller stability updates.

However, eagle-eyed players may have noticed one major change in this stability update. The Red-Eye Assault Rifle has been removed from the game and another scoped rifle has appeared in its place. The MK-Alpha Assault Rifle which was found in the files for the game during the Chapter 4 Season 3 update has been added into the game.

Whether this rifle will be better than the Red-Eye remains to be seen. That gun always felt useless to me due to being a mediocre middle ground between between the Cobra DMR's superior range and scope and the Havoc Assault Rifle, with its superior DPS and fire-rate, so hopefully the MK-Alpha gives me a compelling reason to pick it up over these superior rifles.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 has been off to a good start with the new jungle biome, but a major update for a season doesn't typically come until a few weeks later. We'd expect Fortnite 25.10 to launch on either Tuesday, June 20 or Tuesday, June 27 if we had to guess.

New Fortnite update 3.93 patch notes

Since this is a small update, Epic Games hasn't released a full patch notes for Fortnite update 3.93. However it did post a Tweet on the @FortniteStatus Twitter account saying that it released a maintenance patch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Android "to address stability issues".

Functionally the MK-Alpha is similar to the MK-Seven Assault Rifle that was available during Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 and Season 2, being a fully automatic assault rifle with an attached red dot sight, and putting the player into first-person when aiming with the weapon. Despite rarities from Common to Mythic being found in the files of last week's update, the version of the gun in-game only has Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary rarities in game at the moment, meaning the Mythic version of this weapon must be arriving later on in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3.

Fortnite MK-Alpha Assault Rifle location

The MK-Alpha Assault Rifle has been added to the regular item rotation in Fortnite meaning that there's no special requirements for getting it. You'll be able to find it on the ground, in chests, in vending machines, and in Rare Chests. Currently there aren't any NPC's selling the weapon, so you'll need to get it the old-fashioned way.

However, if you want to guarantee getting an MK-Alpha Assault Rifle, we'd recommend dropping into the Mega City or Shady Stilts areas, as they have the highest volume of chests on the map currently, meaning you'll likely find the MK-Alpha Assault Rifle before too long.
