LUCKNOW: People of Lucknow will soon get a new flyover near Amausi, connecting Shaheed Path to Lucknow airport.
People in the trans-Gomti area, particularly those residing in Gomtinagar and Indira Nagar, will get rid of traffic congestion while going to Chaudhari Charan Singh airport. While currently it takes 40 to 45 minutes to reach the airport from Gomtinagar due to traffic on Kanpur road, after the construction of this two-km flyover the distance will be covered in 20 minutes.
According to officials of state bridge corporation, 95% work on the flyover has been completed and it might be available for public use by June 30. Deputy project manager Rohan Kumar said that they are trying to complete the flyover by June 25. Barring final touches, almost all the work has been completed.
However, he said, there is an issue that might delay the flyover's opening. "We were given the task of constructing the flyover up to the airport boundary wall. From there, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has to make around one-km of road to the airport. But that work has not begun yet," Rohan said, adding that "without this road, the flyover can't become operational."
The much-awaited flyover has to be handed over to people by defence minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh by June-end. Singh's representative in Lucknow Diwakar Tripathi said, "We have informed the defence minister about the issue and it will be resolved soon."
