Southsiders with a sweet tooth are in for a treat thanks to the opening of a new cake and coffee shop in Shawlands.
This coming Saturday (February 5th) Glasgow Cakes will welcome in customers on Pollokshaws Road for the very first time.
Run by mother and daughter Ishrat and Mariyah Anwar, the talented baking duo have embarked on an exciting new venture after running out of space in the 'cake room' in their own house.
Mariyah told Glasgow Live they've made and sold an incredible 7,843 orders from their home over the past 12 years, with the pair being inundated with requests for their delicious, fresh sweet treats including brownies, blondies, cake slices, cupcakes, cookies and tray bakes.
She said: "We decided that it was the next step in our cake career to open a shop and expand our little family business! We were lucky enough to find one round the corner from our house in the south side of Glasgow.
"People can exact some delicious bakes and we will also be serving a selection of hot drinks.
"Our business will still take custom orders we take via online and the bake shop will be open for takeaway and sit ins."
Glasgow Cakes, at 1091 Pollokshaws Road in the former home of the Lucky Sparrow Games Cafe, will open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm.
And on their first weekend (Feb 5 and 6), they'll be holding an opening sale with all bakery items priced at £1 each. Make sure you get yourself along to Shawlands to give them a try!
