New €2bn double-decker Eurostar trains to feature two-storey bars

  • Eurostar has revealed that its new double-decker trains, named Eurostar Celestia, will feature two-storey on-board bars accessible to all passengers.
  • A €2bn (£1.7bn) agreement has been reached with French manufacturer Alstom to build the fully electric fleet, which is expected to enter service in 2031.
  • The new trains will offer 20 per cent more seating capacity than current single-decker models, bringing Eurostar's total potential fleet size to 67.
  • The two-storey bar is designed as a star attraction with distinct atmospheres on each floor and staff-hosted service.
  • The fleet will feature upgraded air conditioning capable of operating in temperatures up to 55 degrees Celsius amid rising competition from Virgin Trains.
