It’s mock draft season as the NBA draft is just 21 days away.
For the Chicago Bulls, they currently hold the No. 18 pick in the first round where they’ll be able to add a potential role player off the bench, like they did in the 2021 NBA draft by selecting Ayo Dosunmu out of Illinois.
In ESPN’s Jonathon Givony’s most recent mock draft, he has the Bulls selecting LSU forward Tari Eason at No. 18.
Givony:
The Bulls need to add depth in the frontcourt and shore up their defense, which ranked second-worst last season among playoff teams. Eason is one of the most explosive and productive players in the draft, putting consistent pressure on opposing defenses with his quick first step, physicality and insatiable intensity, characteristics that allow him to live at the free throw line. These same traits helped make him one of the most versatile defenders in college, a magnet for steals, blocks and rebounds who flew all over the floor in LSU’s suffocating press while rotating from guarding point guards to big men.
With reserve big man Tristan Thompson hitting unrestricted free agency and Tony Bradley having a player option, the Bulls could enter the offseason in need of frontcourt depth behind Nikola Vucevic. With Eason’s athleticism on both ends and his multifaceted defensive skillset, he’d make total sense for Chicago at No. 18.
Ohio State’s EJ Liddell, who worked out for the Bulls on Wednesday, is slated to land at No. 23 to the Philadelphia 76ers per Givony’s mock draft.
