An artist's perception of the new plans for Edinburgh's Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre has been revealed.
As part of the £100 million redevelopment of the twenty-year-old shopping venue in Leith, part of the site is set to be demolished, alongside a new hotel and retail units to be built with great views of the surrounding area.
The plans were put forward by the centre's Scottish owners, Ambassador Group, last year, detailing plans to put local residents and workers thoughts first and deliver a complete regeneration of the famous shopping centre, which currently houses the likes of VUE Cinema, M&S, Boots, Starbucks and the vacant Debenhams store, which is one of the areas that is set to be bulldozed as part of the plans.

A new image of the proposed site after completion has been released by the owners, which give Ocean Terminal a new swish and plush look, making it one of the most impressive spectacles within the city.
The developers add that as part of these plans, the north end of the existing centre will be demolished and a new frontage constructed, with retail and hospitality units looking out on to new public realm.
Detailed plans for phase two, the construction of a mixed-use development comprising a range of housing, commercial units and public realm with a new walkway and cycle tracks along the water line, will be submitted later in the spring.
Chris Richardson is the managing director of Ambassador Investments, which as a team has backed several major regeneration projects across Scotland before focusing on Ocean Terminal. He said: "Throughout the consultation we have been encouraged by the hugely positive reaction to our plans.
"There is a real understanding that the centre needs to change and our vision that maximises the centre’s unique waterfront location and fully embraces sustainability best practice has resonated strongly with those we have met.
"Ocean Terminal plays a key part of Leith’s current regeneration, and the submission of the detailed planning application brings us another step closer to creating a destination for shopping, relaxing, working and living that meets the needs of local people.
"The proposed redevelopment will happen carefully in distinct phases to ensure a smooth realisation of the vision. That includes a focus on continuity and consistency for existing tenants and other users of Ocean Terminal, while plans are put in place. Ocean Terminal has a very exciting future."
Also making way as part of the £100 million project is the centre's huge multi-storey car park, which is set to be demolished alongside the Debenhams section of the site.
Developers will be hoping that along with the completed tram line outside Ocean Terminal, the centre will thrive and become an even more popular retail and leisure destination.
