Plans to transform the site of a former Edinburgh care home into several blocks of flats are finally set to be granted.
The proposals to build 142 apartments on the site of the former Silverlea Care Home in Muirhouse were put to the council's planning officials two years ago and are to be granted during a meeting this week.
The building, at 14 Muirhouse Parkway, was abandoned and eventually demolished when the plans were initially drawn up. The site has now been fully cleared for the work to begin.

The provision is for 142 flats, including colonies and associated roads, parking and greenspace. It is understood that the new development would be a cluster of different flat blocks varying in size from four to six stories tall.
The plans were announced in 2020, with councillors Louise Young and Kevin Lang saying at the time that the new builds would be “100 per cent affordable housing.”
In August, 2022, the same plans were to be granted at a similar council planning meeting but they have appeared on the agenda once again for Wednesday, February 8.
A report ahead of this Wednesday's meeting states: "This application was approved at the Development Management Sub-Committee on 10 August2022 subject to a Memorandum of Understanding to secure affordable housing and a developer contribution towards education provision and health care, and, planning conditions and informatives.
"On the 27th of January 2023 the Memorandum of Understanding was fully signed."
With the site being located next to Craigroyston Youth Football Club, a detailed description of the project state that a new pavilion is also to be provided for the team as part of the plans, replacing existing temporary facilities.
The design and access statement reads: "In addition to the proposals for the residential development, a new Football Pavilion is to be provided for Craigroyston Community Youth Football Club to replace the existing temporary facilities on the south-east of the site adjacent to Muirhouse Parkway.
"The new pavilion is to be located closer to football pitches and will be detailed in a separate Planning application. The new homes for the City of Edinburgh Council are being provided for Social Rent and for Edinburgh Living Mid-Market Rent tenures, as well as CEC Health and Social Care. There are also specially designed wheelchair accessible homes to be delivered by the Council for Blackwood Homes and Care.
