A new road safety app has been launched in Dumfries and Galloway.
Travel Safe D&G has been designed to provide all road users with information that will help them make better informed decisions ahead of their journey and improve safety on the region’s routes.
The app has been developed by Dumfries and Galloway Road Safety Partnership, which is keen for as many people as possible to download it.
The partnership’s tactical group chairman, Dumfries fire station manager Ian Anderson, said: “Where individual organisation or government websites and apps provide invaluable information in their own right, this platform brings these together in a central hub format, specifically aimed at the local area.
“Rather than switch between various apps, communication to the road user is streamlined from a national level to a local level.
“The use of this app not only enhances local engagement and information to the end user but links with national platforms to provide a better all-round experience.
“Rather than replace information platforms that already exist, this will benefit existing sites through further promotion.”
The app can be found by searching the Apple App Store or Google Play for Travel Safe D&G. It is simple and easy to use and gives people the chance to report road faults and plan their journeys.
It also provides up-to-date information during bad weather and can help people be found during an emergency.
Although the app has been launched, development will continue and feedback can be sent to travelsafedg@gmail.com
