New Disney Wish cruise ship will have Marvel, Frozen and Star Wars experiences

Disney has shared a sneak peek of its brand new cruise ship set to set sail this year - and it boasts Marvel, Star Wars and Frozen experiences.

The 'Disney Wish' is said to be one of the highly-anticipated new cruise ships for 2022 and will offer a Frozen-themed restaurant, Marvel-inspired immersive dining, a Star Wars cocktail lounge, activities with Disney Princesses and even a 'Marvel Super Hero Academy'.

What's more, rumour has it that there will be a kids' club that children access via a secret slide. Plus, the ship will be home to Disney's first ever attraction at sea - Aquamouse.

The Mirror reports that Aquamouse will see families join Mickey and Minnie on an adventurous water ride along 760ft of the upper deck, complete with a section offering up amazing ocean views. The ship is being built in Germany and was floated out of the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, treating onlookers to a preview.

The ship's 'captain', Minnie Mouse, even made an appearance for the milestone. It was the first time people have been able to take a proper look at the ship and its artwork in real life - the stern features Rapunzel and her sidekick Pascal and the ship's bow features artwork depicting Minnie Mouse, in a nod to the beloved character's role as captain.

The new ship is due to set sail on its maiden voyage in July from Port Canaveral in Florida, on a series of three and four-night itineraries, to the Bahamas and Disney's private island Castaway Cay. And while she's the fifth ship to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet, she's also the first of three new ships due to launch by 2025.

All of them are being built at the shipyard in Germany. Each of the ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas and weigh approximately 144,000 gross tonnes.

Most Disney Cruise Line sailings depart from the USA, so if you want to board a cruise you'll need to plan to travel to the US including the travel requirements in place to visit. However, there are some itineraries which do include sailings around the UK and Europe. You can find out more about the ship on disneycruise.disney.go.com.
