The Scottish Government has announced that more than £140,000 has been paid to claimants receiving the new Child Disability Payment during the initial launch period between July and November last year.
New applicants for the benefit, which replaced Disability Living Allowance for Children (DLA Child) in Scotland from November 22, 2021, first launched as a pilot scheme in Dundee City, Perth and Kinross and the Western Isles council areas in July.
It is the first of the complex disability benefits to be introduced by the Scottish Government having been previously delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to all claimants across the UK.
