Stocks declined on Friday after figures related to consumption in the U.S. fell in July, dampening the outlook of the U.S. economy.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.20%, while the S&P 500 did so 0.17%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite underperformed, falling 0.28%. Still, the S&P 500 notched a third straight week of wins, buoyed largely by strong corporate results and encouraging inflation numbers. The other two main indexes posted a weekly loss.
