BENGALURU: After three months, the number of new cases reported in a day crossed the 1,000-mark in Karnataka. While the state reported 1,073 new cases on Friday, the city accounted for 1,008 of them.
The last time the state's daily infection rate crossed 1,000 was on February 20 - it recorded 1,001 cases. In the city, the last time daily cases went above the 1,000-mark was on February 13 at 1,059. Health department and BBMP officials, however, said the spike is not translating into a rise in the number of hospitalisations.
A health department official said the situation is under control. "However, people must start taking Covid-19 regulations seriously," he added.
