West Coast coach Andrew McQualter says he's inspired by how players have embraced his three pillars of a fresh on-field identity for the Eagles.
But ahead of his first season as West Coast coach, McQualter warns his overhaul of the game plan will present challenges.
"We're going to play a different way," McQualter said at the Eagles' season launch on Thursday.
"I'm of the strong belief this plan will work.
"It will set us up to win games and it will set us up to win games of finals and that is our purpose, that is what we're here for.
"We are going to ask our players to be tough. We are going to ask them to be fast. And we are going to ask them to be dynamic."
McQualter was appointed coach on September 30 last season, replacing Adam Simpson at a club which finished in the bottom three in the past three seasons with just 10 wins in that span.
"The way our players and our staff have attacked this last four months, it has been inspiring," he said.
"We have had an incredible amount of change in our football department, roughly 40 per cent of coaches and about 30 per cent of our playing list has changed.
"With that brings hope, it brings optimism, it brings excitement.
"The actions that our players have shown all of this pre-season ... fuels us with belief that we're on the right track.
"With that change it also brings challenge. We have to build new relationships and to build deep relationships, it takes time ... we must lean into this challenge.
"We have to embrace the fact that we're not going to be perfect, we are going to make lots of mistakes and that's OK as long as we have got the desire to improve."

West Coast open their premiership season with a home fixture against Gold Coast on March 16 with co-captain Oscar Allen promising a year of progress.
"Clearly we have had some significant change throughout the football club over the last 18 months," Allen said.
"From day one, Mini (McQualter) has brought an insatiable urge to improve and an unwavering direction of where he wants us to head as a group.
"Simply put, we want our identity as a side to be a tough, fast and dynamic football team.
"We will do this by creating turnovers as quickly as possible and playing the game in our front half - sounds really simple but it's bloody hard to execute."
