Celtic midfielder Arne Engels already has multiple English clubs looking at him, but now reportedly has interest from Italians Napoli.

The Parkhead club rejected a £25 million off for the Belgian from Nottingham Forest in January, deciding he was too important for the title run-in.

The English Premier League club are said to still be interested and considering coming back in with another offer, while their divisional rivals Fulham and Sunderland are also monitoring the situation.

The Serie A giants have Zambo Anguissa and Matias Olivera on the way out and will be looking for reinforcements, while it is claimed Engel's ability to play in different roles appeals.

Meanwhile, Celtic chairman Brian Wilson insists Celtic will be very active in the transfer window over the summer.

Asked whether Martin O'Neill will be backed, he said: “Absolutely, and that is very much part of the basis on which he’s wanted to come back, and we’ve wanted him to come back.

“It’s going to be a very active next few weeks, and we must come out of it with a stronger squad.

“It’s worth mentioning maybe for all the criticisms last year, that eight of our players are at the World Cup.

“We have a lot of very, very good players, so we want to not only retain that strength, but also to build on it.”
