New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso gives major update on future of Argentina midfielder

  • Alonso stated that he wishes to keep Fernandez at Chelsea for the upcoming season, despite previous reports linking the player with a move to Real Madrid .
  • Real Madrid had publicly denied interest in Fernandez after he expressed a desire to join them in April, leading to an internal suspension by Chelsea.
  • Chelsea have recently completed the sale of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid and Andrey Santos to Premier League rivals Manchester United .
  • Alonso also confirmed that fellow Argentine Alejandro Garnacho is attracting interest from other clubs, while Nicolas Jackson will join the team's pre-season tour.
