A new British horror film has been branded "disturbing" by viewers, with some admitting they had walked out of recent screenings because they were so uncomfortable.
Men - written and directed by Alex Garland, whose credits include Ex Machina (2014) and Annihilation (2018) - is a folk horror that stars Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear.
The film follows Harper (Buckley) who heads out to the countryside in the aftermath of a tragedy, where "someone or something from the woods appears to be stalking her."
A synopsis for the "feverish, shape-shifting" horror adds: "What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears."
It's attracted particular attention over the response from audiences, with viewers having taken to social media platforms like Twitter recently to share their thoughts on it.
One wrote: "[Men] is one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen." Another said: "Tense, terrifying, poignant. It is going to stick with me for couple of weeks for sure!"
Another wrote: "One of the most visually disturbing movies I've ever seen! I don't get scared [...] in movies much but [the second half] made me extremely uncomfortable!"

"It was great and had some of the most horrifically disturbing imagery for a final act I'd ever seen," tweeted a third viewer. Whilst another described it as "unsettling".
"MEN was insane, audacious, bizarre, shocking and one of the disturbing films in my recent memory. Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear were phenomenal," said another.
Another viewer tweeted: "I just saw Men. Definitely one of the most disturbing scenes ever. Oh my god, what was that?" Whilst one viewer said the final act was "so disturbing."
And another person wrote recently: "I've seen a lot of disturbing, horrifying horror movies, but 'Men' really made me want to walk out the theatre from being so disturbed."
Others on social media have reported seeing people walk out of the cinema during the film, with there having been numerous reports about this since it was released.
Discussing their own experience, one person alleged in a video review on YouTube that they themself had "walked out" because the new film "deeply disturbed" them.
Men is showing in cinemas nationwide.
