A new branch of Coffi Lab, a dog-friendly cafe which has become well-known across Cardiff, Monmouthshire and Wiltshire, is set to open in a prime location in Cardiff. Planning permission for various works to 26 Park Place, including new signage and fixed seating, were approved by Cardiff Council in late April.
The owners of Coffi Lab have since confirmed these are for a new branch, which would be across the road from the National Museum and near to City Hall, Cardiff University SU and the city centre.
Managing director Hannah Gillard confirmed: "We have submitted plans, and if all goes well we would be looking to open within the next few months. As a Cardiff born and bred business it will be really exciting to have a Lab in the heart of the Civic Centre."

Coffi Lab already serves coffee grown in El Salvador at locations in Abergavenny, Llanishen, Llandaff, Monmouth, Whitchurch and Rhiwbina as well as one branch across the border in Malborough, Wiltshire.
The cafe chain is a corporate partner of Guide Dogs UK and fundraises regularly for the charity, reportedly having raised £50,000 so far. The 'Lab' name is inspired by Dylan, a Labrador owned by Coffi Lab founder James Shapland.
Mr Shapland, who also headed up Coffee#1 before it was sold to SA Brain & Co, said in 2022 that he hoped to have opened 50 shops by 2027. You can read more from our interview with him here.
