Beeston's high street is 'booming', according to the co-owner of a new beauty salon there. People in the town think Eyebrow Gallery on High Road will “do well”.
The business - which already has a presence on Trinity Square in Nottingham city centre - is due to open at a former butchers at the beginning of next week. Jag Singh, co-owner of Eyebrow Gallery, told Nottinghamshire Live why Beeston was chosen as a location for the new shop, which will be open six days a week.
He said: “Beeston is booming. It was the right location compared to Long Eaton.

“The Tesco in Long Eaton has killed the high street.” The Eyebrow Gallery, which has two staff members, specialises in eyebrow threading, microblading and eyelashes. Individual eyelash procedures will cost £40 and eyebrow threading £6.
Shoppers in Beeston shared their thoughts on the new shop. Sammia Longford, 35, is a full-time mum who said: “I think many people will use it. £6 for eyebrow threading is not bad at all.
“It’s not a shop that I would personally use but there’s loads of students around here that could potentially be customers. I hope the business does well.”
Emily Mann, 24, lives in Beeston. The teaching assistant said: “I think the shop will go down well with people. I know it’s a bit different but the nail shops always seem to be packed here.”
She added: “The prices sound fair too. I do my own eyebrows but I know where to go now if that ever changes.”
Sheila Healey, 66, is from Beeston. Now retired, she said: “It’s not a shop for me but I’m sure the youngsters will use it. They must be popular if they’re venturing out and it’s nice to see that they’ve chosen Beeston.”
Sheila added: “I’d rather see shops used and open than shut and no use to anyone.”
Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic, said: “Beeston has a very mixed community - it’s diverse, there’s students and they have a very good shopping centre that’s safe and accessible. It [the high street] does well for a combination of factors.
“The cinema and the redevelopment of the Square has meant there’s a further night-time attraction and there’s a good range of shops. Beeston is a vibrant area and people continue to invest in that.”
Cllr Radulovic added that he had “real concerns” about bank closures in the borough and city. “The banking industry is a service moving online to boost profit but that has a massive impact on town centres,” he added.
