Aston Villa have this evening announced their replacement following the recent sacking of Steven Gerrard as manager.
Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery has been appointed as his successor, with the Lions this evening declaring he has taken up the position and will begin November 1 following the formalities of his work permit are announced.
Having spent the last two years in La Liga with Villarreal, the Spaniard led the side to Europa League success back in 2021, after overcoming Manchester United in a penalty shootout victory.

As for Gerrard, his future remains to be seen, with sections of the Villa faithful heard chanting 'get out of our club' prior to his dismissal on Thursday evening. The Villans had only won two out of their opening 10 games following the start of the 21/22 season.
