Steve Nicol has raised concerns that it will 'never work' if the Liverpool players available can't fit in Jurgen Klopp's system.
The Reds head to Molineux this evening for their FA Cup replay against Wolves as they look to progress to the fourth round of the competition.
More importantly, the German will be looking for a response to their tepid defeat against Brighton in the league which saw them slip 10 points adrift of the Champions League places.

"Zero positives at all," the former Liverpool defender told ESPN FC. "Going to Wolves, what do you do? It begs a question, we're always talking about coaches, how a coach coaches his side to play or do you coach the team with the players you have?
"So what, is Klopp trying to get out of Liverpool something that they don't have because he keeps playing the same way. Liverpool have shown since the start of the season that playing the way they are doesn't work.
"It looks like the players he has available don't fit the system and if the players don't fit the system, then it's never going to work."
Nicol's concerns go so far that he believes that in the current situation, Graham Potter's Chelsea will finish above Liverpool in the Premier League.
The Londoners are the next visitors to Anfield on Saturday as the Reds return home looking to claw away at the gap separating them from the Premier League top four.
He added: "Right now you'd have to say Chelsea. The acquisitions they've made, they don't lose as many goals as Liverpool so that means, what they've got going forward, they could hit some form and somebody could catch fire, that's about it.
"It's hard to see Liverpool winning a game right now with the way they're performing. So I'm going with Chelsea."
