Brooklyn Nets breakout star guard Cam Thomas will miss three to four weeks because of a left hamstring strain, sources informed ESPN’s Shams Charania on Wednesday.

Thomas, 23, suffered the strain during Brooklyn’s road trip to the West Coast. He scored 34 points on 11-of-22 shooting in a victory against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday then 23 points in a win over the Golden State Warriors on Monday.
Through 17 games (all starts) of his fourth NBA season, Thomas is averaging career highs of 24.7 points, 3.4 assists, and 33.4 minutes per contest while shooting career bests of 46.1% from the field and 38.9% from 3-point range.

The 6-foot-4 Thomas ranks 11th in the NBA in points (420), 14th in points per game, 19th in 3-pointers (49), eighth in free throws (97), and ninth in usage percentage (31.2%).
In Brooklyn’s 124-122 loss to the New York Knicks on Nov. 15, he recorded a season-high 43 points on 16-of-22 shooting from the floor and 7-of-10 from deep.
Dennis Schroder is slated to take over for Thomas in Brooklyn’s offense until he returns
According to Brian Lewis of the The New York Post, Nic Claxton (lower back soreness), Dorian Finney-Smith (left ankle sprain), and Cameron Johnson (right ankle sprain) are all considered questionable to play on Wednesday.
Ben Simmons is now off the injury report after sitting out on Monday due to lower back injury management.
Veteran guard Dennis Schroder is expected to take over as the focal point of Brooklyn’s offense. Schroder missed Sunday’s game at Sacramento with right ankle soreness but returned for Monday’s matchup with Golden State.
Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez will also depend on swingman Cam Johnson to help carry the load.
However, Thomas is the only Nets player who’s averaging 20 points this season. Johnson is averaging a career-high 18.3 points while shooting 49.8% from the field and 43.1% from beyond the arc.
Brooklyn is 8-10 entering Wednesday’s road game against the Phoenix Suns.
