‘The Witness’ (2026)
Netflix subscribers usually have a taste for all things true crime, and the latest crime drama miniseries, “The Witness,” is already proving to be a hit. Directed by Alex Winckler, the series quickly climbed to the top of Netflix's charts and debuted with a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It recounts the aftermath of the tragic 1992 murder of 23-year-old Rachel Nickell, who was killed on Wimbledon Common in London while out walking her dog. Rather than focusing on the investigation itself, the drama centers on the family left behind and the years they spent coping with the devastating loss.
“The Witness” follows André Hanscombe (Jordan Bolger) and his young son Alex (Jahsiah Williams) after the 1992 murder of Rachel Nickell (Eleanor Williams) on Wimbledon Common in London. With Alex the only eyewitness to the attack, André suddenly finds himself raising his son alone while dealing with intense media scrutiny and an increasingly controversial police investigation. Spanning more than a decade, the three-part Netflix drama chronicles their lives as they attempt to rebuild in the aftermath of the crime.

‘Lawmen: Bass Reeves’ (2023)
For a long time, major streaming services tried to keep their biggest original shows locked behind their own paywalls to force people to subscribe. But the math has changed, and studios have realized they can benefit from sharing, hence the licensing agreement between Netflix and Paramount. This month, Netflix added a bunch of Paramount+ originals, including the western series “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” which chronicles the remarkable life of Bass Reeves, one of the first Black U.S. Deputy Marshals west of the Mississippi River.
The series begins during the Civil War as Reeves (David Oyelowo) escapes slavery and eventually builds a new life for himself and his family. Years later, he is recruited to serve as a deputy marshal in the dangerous Indian Territory, where he tracks fugitives, dismantles outlaw gangs, and carries out high-risk missions across the American frontier. As his reputation grows, Reeves faces increasingly dangerous assignments while balancing the demands of his job with the responsibilities waiting for him at home.

‘Resident Alien’ (2021)
Lastly we have the series “Resident Alien,” which recently dropped its fourth and final season on Netflix. This is a brilliantly quirky, genre-blending sci-fi comedy-drama adapted from the Dark Horse comic book series. Because Syfy and the USA Network faced declining cable ratings, they officially decided to cancel the show after season 4. Fortunately, showrunner Chris Sheridan and the writing team saw the writing on the wall ahead of time. Instead of leaving fans hanging on a massive cliffhanger, they purposely wrote the 10-episode fourth season as a definitive final chapter.
“Resident Alien” follows an extraterrestrial sent to Earth on a secret mission who crash-lands in the mountains near the small town of Patience, Colorado. After taking on the identity of a local doctor named Harry Vanderspeigle (Alan Tudyk), he plans to keep a low profile while searching for a device lost in the crash. His plans are disrupted when the town's physician suddenly dies and Harry is forced to step into the role. As he treats patients and becomes involved in a murder investigation, he struggles to maintain his cover.
