Netflix viewers are heaping praise on new drama Heartstopper, with many calling it the streaming service's 'best series ever,' as it earns a perfect 100 on notoriously harsh review site Rotten Tomatoes.
Having seen teaser adverts for the eight part UK based show, Netflix subscribers had high hopes for adaptation of Alice Oseman's novel about life, love, and everything that happens in between.. The central characters in Heartstopper are Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson whose lives collide when they are sat together every day in their school form class. On the face of things, the two couldn't be more different, with openly gay Charlie and rugby team hero Nick having never seen their paths cross prior to be being chosen to share a desk after a class reshuffle at the start of a new year.
At the time, Charlie is enjoying a secret fling with another boy in school, Ben, who forces Charlie to keep the whole thing a secret, while expecting him to be at his beckon call. After becoming friends, Nick ends up being Charlie's knight in shining armour, coming to his rescue as Ben manipulates him into meeting him. Charlie quickly develops feelings for Nick, unaware that Nick, who'd always assumed he was straight, is battling his own growing feelings for him, as well as questioning his own sexuality.

If you haven't seen Heartstopper yet, rest assured this is a spoiler free zone as to how things pan out but, be warned, as the minute you start watching it, you won't want to stop, particularly as all the episodes are just over half an hour long, making it a very tempting show to binge in one-go.
The Heartstopper cast, particularly Joe Locke and Kit Connor in the roles of Charlie and Nick, put in superb performances, with other talented young stars including William Gao as Tao, Yasmin Finney as Elle, Rhea Norwood as Imogen and Corinna Brown as Tara. And the raw and very real storyline, stellar star turns from the young cast, as well as Olivia Colman as Nick's mum and the authentic portrayal of LGBTQ+ life for the modern generation, has led to Heartstopper warning rave reviews and being championed as Netflix's best offering to date.
Minutes after watching it, one fan took to Twitter to post: "I cried I laughed I enjoyed every moment of the series Every character was perfectly portrayed by the amazing cast This series will go down in history as one of the best LGBTQ+ series to be ever made."
