For those loyal Julia Quinn fans who read the books that inspired Bridgerton years before the screen adaptation landed on Netflix, there's a chance you may be left a little disappointed by the next series During a FYSEE panel yesterday (May 15), Nicola Coughlan revealed that Bridgerton will be skipping ahead in the third series.
In the next instalment, fans will see the love story between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) blossom. The storylines in the first two series of the hit Netflix period drama, which was filmed in various locations across the West Country, followed those of the corresponding novels by Julia Quinn.
Series three will tie in more with the fourth book, which focuses on Penelope. A later season will most likely hone in on the contents of the third book, in which Benedict Bridgerton's love life is the focal point.

In the most recent season finale of Bridgerton, Penelope overheard her long-time obsession, Colin, say that he would never marry her. Chris Van Dusen, who created the screen adaptation of Bridgerton, stepped down as showrunner after the second season, with Jess Brownell stepping in for the next instalment.
Speaking to RadioTimes earlier this year, Chris said: "Bridgerton will always have a special place in my heart and I think I did what I set out to do. The fact that this show has become Netflix’s biggest English language speaking series ever is something I’m incredibly proud of, and something I’ll always be incredibly proud of."
Chris added: "But at the end of the day, you know, it was time for me to move on, and hopefully create that magic again in the near future.”
Bridgerton has a number of links to Bristol, and the wider West Country. Leigh Court in Abbots Leigh has been used for filming the iconic ballroom scenes, including the setting for the Princes Ballroom, the Ingenue Ballroom, and the Crawford Ballroom.
Despite the show being set in London, the streets of Bath were used heavily during filming. The famous Royal Crescent proved incredibly popular with the production team, and is home to The Featheringtons.
Filming locations are not the only thing that links Bridgerton to Bristol, as Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury in the period drama, was born in Clifton. She grew up in Wickwar, South Gloucestershire, and attended Katharine Lady Berkeley's School in Wotton-under-Edge.
