Netflix added 39 new movies to kick off August 2026. The platform is also gearing up to release its latest original thriller, “The Last House,” on Friday (Aug. 7). With so many new options for subscribers to consider, it would be very easy for some great films to slip under the radar.
It's already looking like such a cruel fate will befall “Eighth Grade.” This excellent comedy-drama movie arrived on Netflix earlier this week (on Monday, Aug. 3 to be exact), and so far hasn’t made much of an impression. It looks primed to be a hidden gem within the Netflix library. To me, that's criminal, because this is one of the best comedy-dramas of the last decade.
