Producers of Netflix drama The Crown have finally cast the roles of Prince William and Kate Middleton ahead of the filming of season six, according to Deadline.
The hit show will see two actors portray William, with youngster Rufus Kampa assuming the role as the 15-year old prince with Ed McVey taking over his later teen and early adult years.
Meg Bellamy, meanwhile, has landed the role of Kate, with all three new to television.
Rufus will appear in episodes in which the Royal Family comes to terms with the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997.
The youngster made his West End debut in 2019, playing the lead role in Sue Townsend’s The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole 13 & 3/4s: The Musical.
Ed will appear in plot lines including William's first meeting with Kate as the pair studied Art History at the University of St Andrews four years later.
A graduate of Drama Centre London, the actor has understudied in Camp Siegfried at the Old Vic in the capital.
Screenwriter Peter Morgan, meanwhile, had previously revealed that season six would be it's last - concluding in 2002 with storylines focussing on the loss of the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.
However, in a U-turn by the 59-year old, the final instalment - at least for the time being - will now culminate in the wedding of Prince Charles to Camilla Parker Bowles, which occurred three years later.
As a result of the change, William and Harry are set for more prominent roles than originally planned, which could pave the way for an additional season to tell stories of their respective marriages to the aforementioned Kate and Meghan Markle - and of course, Megxit.
Bosses of the streaming services are said to have since indicated to Morgan, meanwhile, that they would like to cash in on further dramas of the most recent two decades, including the death of Prince Philip at 99 and alleged events surrounding Prince Andrew.
In the meantime, season five is due to hit screens in November.
