Netflix crashes for viewers as Harry and Meghan documentary airs

As people all over the world tune into the highly-anticipated Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary, some viewers have complained the streaming service "crashed" just as the show aired. It comes after business mogul Lord Alan Sugar suggested that the demand generated by the 'hype' surrounding the docuseries could overload Netflix's servers. Several Twitter users aired their frustration on social media around the time the series launched at 8am (GMT) on Thursday. One wrote "Netflix not working" with a laughing emoji at 8.03am, and a couple of minutes later another wrote: "Did Harry and Meghan just crash netflix???"

A third wrote: "Mine (sic) screen is stuck loading" and another replied: "Looks like too many people trying to watch at the same time. Mine is playing up too...Looks like #Netflix is crashed/crashing or unable to meet the server demands."

Someone else joked: "My Netflix is crashing, this is like getting Glastonbury tickets all over again", and another user said: "Not you all already crashing Netflix!"

"#HarryandMeghanNetflix has been out for 2 minutes and already Netflix is crashing. Some of y’all need to logout," said a seventh user. An eighth person took out their frustration on Netflix itself: "@netflix are you mad? You knew #HarryandMeghanNetflix was a global event and now it’s not loading?"

Someone else said: "Is anyone else netflix crashed? It’s not loading. #HarryandMeghanonNetflix." It comes as the first three episodes of the documentary has both supporters and critics of the couple glued to their screens across the globe.

It sparked controversy before it even aired. Harry and Meghan faced shouts of “Are you putting money before family?” and “Are you harming your family Harry?” from the media in New York as they posed for photographs on the red carpet at an awards gala on Tuesday night.
