Netflix confirm filming for You season four but fans are divided

Netflix have announced that filming has started on the fourth season of psychological thriller You but fans of the show - which first launched in 2018 - are divided on the news. The American mystery drama series has produced three seasons based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novels.

Series three was released in October 2021 and saw Penn Badgley reprise his role of bookstore manager and serial killer Joe Goldberg and Victoria Pedretti return as Love Quinn-Goldberg. The pair were married and raising their newborn son, in a fictitious town in Northern California.

Streaming service giant Netflix announced the news of season four to its subscribers on Twitter on Wednesday, March 23 in a tweet that read: "YOU NEWS: Season 4 is officially in production!". It has already received more than 200k likes from excited fans on the official You Twitter account.

Former EastEnders star Tilly Keeper has also been rumoured to be joining the fourth season, The Mirror reports, as filming for the show is reportedly moved to the UK instead of the US. The cast is also rumoured to include; Dario Coate - who plays Alex Neeson in Coronation Street.

Many fans were delighted with the news. "So happy #You #season4 #joegoldberg" Sarah Parkes said and @Mistlify added: "Buzzing!! I can’t wait, I have loved all 3 seasons so far". "OH MY GODDDD" Keira tweeted whilst Rebecca Kulczycki posted: "Brilliant can't wait!".

But some fans were unsure on the announcement, with many questioning the need for a fourth season. Bethany tweeted: "Adore this show but how can they possibly be making a season 4?? There’ll be no one left for him to kill". Sam added: "I got bored at season 3. No idea how it’s such a popular show"

"Just don't know if I've got the energy in me for another season, please for the love of God let this be the last" Zoe posted and Jack Ainslie said: "I don’t know if I’ve got the strength for more intense voiceovers"

Series one to three of You are available to watch on Netflix.
