Netflix have confirmed who will be taking on the role of a young Queen Charlotte in the upcoming Bridgerton prequel.
A spin-off series had already been teased by the streaming giant, and now a few more details have been announced.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Netflix went on somewhat of a tweeting spree as they fans a closer look at some upcoming shows.
One particular tweet read: "QUEEN CHARLOTTE: All hail Queen Charlotte! For her next series, Shonda Rhimes will chronicle Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power in a prequel that will see Golda Rosheuvel reprise her role and India Ria Amarteifio join the Bridgerton-verse as Young Queen Charlotte."
The post was accompanied by a black and white photo of Golda and India at, what appeared to be, a read-through for the upcoming series.
Netflix fans may recognise India from her role as Lizzie in hit show Sex Education.
She has also starred in the likes of Military Wives, Unforgotten and Line of Duty as well as Doctor Who.
Taking to Instagram, India shared the same snap of her with actress Golda and wrote alongside it: "Ur, yeah? Yeah. No words really. Thank you to my secret keepers for keeping it a secret. Absolute honour :)."
The upcoming spin-off will serve as a limited series to the main Bridgerton run, which stars Jonathan Bailey.
As a prequel, the show will rewind the clock and explain to fans how Queen Charlotte became the iconic character in the mothership series.
Alongside the initial announcement of the spin-off, Netflix’s Bela Bajaria (head of global TV) said: "Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton."
Shonda Rhimes will serve as the main writer on the show. This is the first time Shonda has been directly involved in the writing as she served only as an executive producer on the main series.
Bridgerton seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on Netflix now.
