- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu railed against New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in a speech at the UN General Assembly on Thursday.
- “Mr. Mamdani, you tried to stop me from coming here. You tried to silence me,” Netanyahu said. “But you cannot silence me and you cannot silence the truth. And this is the truth: Israel did not commit genocide. Israel prevented genocide!”
- He continued, “Mr. Mamdani, since you were elected mayor of this city, many Jews no longer feel safe in New York. They talk to me. They tell me. This isn’t the city we remember. It changed so quickly.”
- Netanyahu once again falsely accused Mamdani of supporting Hamas militants as he raged against the mayor, who campaigned for office on a promise to have Netanyahu arrested for alleged war crimes should he visit the largest US city, but later said he determined he lacked the legal authority to do so.
- Mamdani described Netanyahu this week as "the architect of a horrific genocide against Palestinians." He posted a video the night before Netanyahu’s speech captioned: “Last night I planted an olive tree at Gracie Mansion with Palestinian families from Gaza. May peace be our future.”
