Nemanja Matic insists he is keeping his options open as he nears the end of his Manchester United contract. The Serbian midfielder will leave United for free at the end of the season after five years at the club.
When the 33-year-old, signed his last contract in July 2020, United stated that the deal ran until 2023, but it has transpired that this was an error and that his contract was for a minimum of two years, with the option of an additional year.
Matic has exercised his right to end his United career after two years, rather than having his extension triggered.
The former Chelsea midfielder has already been linked with a number of different clubs in the summer window, but he insists his focus is on finishing the season with United first.
“The options are still open," he told K1 Televizija. "But what is certain is that this is my last season at United and I want to finish it in the best possible way.
"We have another game on May 22, and after that I will make a decision where I will continue my career."
Matic made his final home appearance for United in the 3-0 victory over Brentford on May 4 but will have to wait nearly two weeks before a possible last outing for the club away at Crystal Palace on 22 May.
